Hungry and Mission Minded

Hungry?  Hungry and mission minded?  I’ll be at Texas Roadhouse this afternoon, how about you????  Texas Roadhouse in Nashua is donating 10 percent of all meals if the server is told when the guests are seated that they are there to support HOPEFEST!  Any time TODAY from 3-10 p.m.  AND look for someone from MUMC at the Roadhouse selling tickets so YOU will be able to purchase tickets at the Early Bird price of $25.00 rather than the present online price of $35!  Wish I had known that a couple weeks ago!  Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity!  You do need something HOPEFESTy to show your server so print out a page from hopefestnh.org before you go or have your smartphone geared up to do that!

AND that’s not all!  This Saturday night at MUMC, 7 – 8 p.m. the incredible MUMC Praise Band will be giving a preview of the music they will be offering at HOPEFEST, refreshments and all!!!!!!   The Praise Team has been wonderful every evening this week at VBS.  I’m hoping they’ll do a song or two that the kids have been learning this week for the kids at HOPEFEST.

Check out www.hopefestnh.org if you want more information or would like to get involved.  It’s as easy as showing up at the Oval Saturday morning between 9 and 10 to hand out flyers (hint, hint).

Sunday’s service uses the scripture that incorporates, “Eat, drink and be merry”.  Did you even know that was from scripture?  See you in church

Sudarshana Devadhar – Re-Appointed

Looking forward on the August church calendar takes my breath away!  So much going on.  So many prayers needed.  So much for which to be grateful.

The United Methodist Church Bishop, Sudarshana Devadhar this past week was re-appointed by the Jurisdictional Conference for another 4 years serving the people of New England.  We are blessed!  Bishop Devadhar will be leading worship at MUMC on August 21 to help celebrate 10 years in this new building and the upcoming 165th year of United Methodist ministry in Milford.  I hope that’s on your calendar as a “must go!”  Check out the August newsletter for biographical information.  He has been an amazing leader within our Conference.  There will be a time to meet and greet during the potluck after the combined 10:30 service.

Vacation Bible School is right around the corner, July 25-29 from 6-8 p.m.  Thanks to all the wonderful folks at last week’s planning meeting.  The next one is Monday at 6:30.  Would love you to join us!!

Tuesday night there is a Welcoming Task Force meeting at 6:30 and a planning team meeting at 7 p.m. for HOPEFEST.  Come check those out as well.

No reason not to be involved in ministry at MUMC with so much going on!

VBS / Hopefest

VBS is coming up!  Join in DEEP SEA DISCOVERY from July 25-29, 6 to 8 p.m. whether it’s as an attendee or a volunteer!  There will be a sign up sheet on Sunday after the services and would love to have you join in the fun in whatever capacity.    We will be coordinating volunteers and activities next week.  Feel free also to get in touch with me via email (pastor@milfordumc.org) if you’re away for the fourth of July weekend so not able to sign up yourself or kids up at church.

Another volunteer opportunity!  MUMC would love to have more greeters on the rotation list to greet for the Second Service.   What a fun thing to do – welcome people who come to worship!  Arrive a bit early (around 10 a.m.), greet them and if they are visitors introduce them to others (and to the pastor if I’m nearby) show off the sanctuary and, well, you most likely know what it takes to make people feel at home.  Please let Wendy know at (office@milfordumc.org) if that sounds like something you’d like to do.  Or try it out just once and see how it feels!  Dates currently open are July 24 and 31.

And of course volunteers of all sorts are needed for Hopefest!  It’s just about around the corner!  Steve Rafter is the one to get in touch with for that (sbrou812@aol.com).  If you don’t know what it’s about, check it out at hopefestnh.org.  As Steve says, “It’s gonna be a blast!!!!!”

Wishes for a wonderful Fourth of July as we celebrate the birth of this country (that’s probably going to be a “blast” too).

See you in church!
